City Peoples has a couple of good grass blends that you can buy in bulk (by the pound), and their blends are made for Seattle's weather, etc.

  • My cat bit a neighbor.....

If you're worried about legal liability, or investigating the situation to show that Neighbor provoked the cat, contact Adam Karp. He's pioneered a practice in animal law and may be able to help.

I get what you mean when you say Lucille is an outdoor cat. Our cat is also impossible to keep inside. So, we harness trained her, and she only goes outside in our backyard - so she doesn't get around people. We keep an eye on her around friends, especially kids, when they come over, because she is prone to nip when people vex her. And all people vex her, all the time - she's a cat!

  • I need to get my wedding band re-sized (just gold, no gems) - it's too big. Can you recommend a good, reasonably priced jeweler in Seattle?
    Tomato_small

I had my grandmother's rings (+80 years old) resized at Ben Bridge. Both rings had a 20s-style design on the band portion, which had worn off from wear. I was having them made larger, so my concern was that they be able to reproduce the design on the new section and the lower part that had worn away. They did an excellent job - you would be hard pressed to identify the original versus new portions without a loup.

Service was great, and I would definitely trust them with other jewelry, if I had any other fancy jewelry for them to fix. There's a reason they've been around forever.

  • My condo building is being condemned for Sound Transit, advice for owners?
    Tomato_small

It could help to hire legal counsel, someone with experience with both eminent domain and condominiums, since they are a special sort of real property. My firm does this work and I'm happy to talk to you, if you can contact me directly. (I keep my Slog/Questionland life separate from my work life.)

You will need to get a comprehensive property appraisal before you will know whether Sound Transit's offer is fair. You may also be able to argue that the present value is not fair compensation - the state/county should not be able to take advantage of the reduced real estate values under its eminent domain powers.

I like all the answers, but this one especially. You have to stay strong, while forcing your parents to deal with you as an adult. That means when Christmas is being planned, you make it clear to your folks that you will attend their holiday festivities if and when they invite your guy. If they won't, then you don't attend. If other family members invite you to events, you and the boyfriend attend, and don't let them tell you he can't come. If they're rude to him, call them on it. Then if they won't leave, you leave.

Over time, they will (hopefully, slowly) accept your relationship on your terms. But you have to be ready to walk away if they don't.

At the same time, love them and show them how their love showed you how to love.

Exactly what I was thinking, from my days in the apartments behind the old Deano's on Madison.

I assumed it was 50%, as in half the fee up front, half on delivery.

No, it was definitely a PowerBar, in a light blue/aqua wrapper. You get major points for finding that, though. What possessed these people, to make this?

  • What's the weirdest food you've seen in a convenience store?
    Tomato_small

Mr. Luckier and I once saw a box of "Club Sandwich" -flavored PowerBars. No lie. We didn't purchase any, which has made it more difficult to convince people this actually happened. I've written and tried to get confirmation from the PowerBar people, but they will not respond.

You're welcome - have a great time. PS Mr. Lucky says the good thrift neighborhood is 4th Avenue.
