You need a deficit of 3500 calories to lose 1 pound. Let's say you restricted your diet each day by 300 calories and burned an extra 200 by walking or other exersize, you would lose a pound a week. At your weight you are probably eating close to 3000 calories a day to maintain that weight (if you are healthy and I'm assuming you do not exersize) You could easily cut that by 500 or more which would drasticly help with weight loss. I am 5'7" 170lbs and I eat about 2300 calories per day. I am probably more active than you.
Look for a calorie counter online. Also if you have an iphone there is a free app called lose it that will track your calories.
