I have seen ads here (I live in the Bay Area) where non-profits have asked for any working laptops regardless of age. The iBook described in the question can probably do all of the things you mentioned, so my thinking was if she can find someone with a similar request it might be a good outlet since I doubt she will get more than $100 for it online.

Clearly I have no idea what I am talking about and will shut up now.

I like this, but am generally under the principle that any costume you need to explain (and then explain the explanation) stops being a good costume.
