  1 0 I had gay friends who gave me a lot of shit when I hooked up with my future husband. I sat them down and had a very serious talk with them. I said, "This wasn't a choice, me liking guys. But after a lot of soul-searching, I've come to realize that this is just how I was born and I can't change it. And I don't want to. I understand that it may seem strange or icky to you guys, but just like being left-handed, some people are born straight and no one knows why. Please stop teasing me and making fun of me. It's very rude and hurtful." By the time I finished "coming out" they were busting up laughing, and also realized that they were being asses just the same as if it were reversed.   0 0 Actually the longer a woman spends on birth control pills, or breast feeding, or pregnant, the lower her odds for certain kinds of cancer. Something about hormones and ovulating. But ovarian and (I think) breast cancer odds go up the more you ovulate. Not that skipping periods will affect that, but maybe being on the pill for that extra week a month would change the odds a little? Charlie Tillman Melton commented about 1 year ago

  0 0 https://www.seasonique.com/ There are birth control pills on the market specifically dosed to skip periods. Seasonique gives you only 4 periods a year, but any pill will do that if you skip the placebo pills and just keep taking the hormones. Women have been doing it for decades to work around weddings, vacations, etc. And porn stars do it to keep working, from what I understand. You can have spotting (breakthrough bleeding, they call it) and you have to have a period every once in a while, but there's no health risk to not having one each month. Also, the birth control shot often stops periods all together. I went a year without once, and I've known women to go even longer. It's like when you breast feed and your period stops.   What is the evolutionary purpose of female orgasm?

  1 0 IMHO, A woman would need to find a mate willing to stick around and help with the kids, protect and hunt and all that stuff. A man more willing to take the time to get her off is a more selfless and considerate guys so an evolutionary trait designed to weed out selfish lovers, ie selfish men in general, would be beneficial. Even today, a guy too selfish to get a girl off is unlikely to be a decent husband or father.
