  • Is there a better resource for rental HOUSE hunting than Craigslist?
    Montana_thurderstorm_small

I find myself rather impressed by Zillow. It's maybe a bit more geared toward purchasing, but they have a rentals feature, and I've seen some ridiculous deals listed. Got to them too slowly, but they certainly appeared to exist. And I'm not even looking for a place, really. I just find this process of looking really entertaining for some reason.

  • Anyone know where I can find some Deschutes The Dissident either in bottle or on tap?
    Montana_thurderstorm_small

If it makes you feel any better, I don't think it was quite as good as the first time around. And it was one of my favorites too. Fingers crossed for next time.

  • Is it just me, or is food here really salty?
    Montana_thurderstorm_small

I'm fairly anti-salt myself, to the extent that I hardly ever enjoy pretzels, but I've never noticed a problem here. I am curious which places you're talking about.

  • Looking for chocolate made without refined sugar in Seattle
    Montana_thurderstorm_small

I did the no refined sugar thing for two years. For some reason it never occurred to me to eat unsweetened chocolate, so I suffered a bit. I did learn that unsweetened dried mango helps with chocolate cravings. Weird I know, and maybe it was just me, but there it is. Also, bananas peeled and cut in half and impaled on popsicle sticks were my icecream. Another thing I've been doing more recently is making my oatmeal with cacao nibs in it. Good luck!

  • Whats a good place to take beginning pottery classes?
    Montana_thurderstorm_small

Pottery Northwest is the one I always recommend. The classes are about ten weeks for $300-350, which includes all slips and glazes and firing, and there's no real restrictions on your studio access. Which is admittedly a better deal if you plan on being a bit obsessive about it like me. Plus it's an actual community of people who take class after class over the years or decades. There's such an accumulation of knowledge there it's kind of ridiculous, but it's also very homey and welcoming. I've been taking classes there for a couple of years now.

  • Great coffee shops for hanging out/ working all day?
    Montana_thurderstorm_small

Fremont Coffee Company meets most of your criteria. It's on 36th Ave N, just west of Evanston. It's in an old house, so there's various rooms and nooks to sit in. And a great porch in the back for sunny days. I don't think they have salads, but there is savory food and beer.
