http://www.crateandbarrel.com/sofas-$999-and-less/furniture/1 has quite a few decent options for right on your price range (plus tax, alas).

And now you can freak your friends out when they come over for drinks. Don't say anything, just crack the ice without looking at it like it was the most normal thing in the world, and put the crushed ice in your glass, preferably while talking about something else. They'll think you're a wizard.

Hear, hear to the "really good light". Little blinky things don't cut it. Get a Niterider or something similar.

I will henceforth always pronounce "douche" to rhyme with "touche". Thanks. It was a joke, you know.

It was freaky at first, and from what I've read, an initial panic reaction is normal. Especially with the coated fabrics; the suit is actually yellow, and the gold is a coating that makes it even harder to breathe and see. But what's making it hard to breathe IS the panic; if you're huffing, it doesn't work. If you relax and breathe normally, after a minute or less of adjustment you're totally fine. In the dark-colored ones you can even see near-perfectly.

If you want the barista to dig you, you have to take proactive action. Sit right at the counter and stare hard, preferably about 15 degrees below her eyes. Blush and wink often. Be sure and order your drinks with clever suggestions like "and a shot of Jaeger, heh heh" or "unleaded" or "make it really HOT".

No, it just means we never want to see your hairstyle or beard again.
