My first thought was dietary myself. In addition to what Russ said, Vit H (biotin) and Vit K promote good hair and nails. Also, the body can dry out during cold weather, so getting enough (good) fat is important too. Have you had any dietary or lifestyle changes before you started seeing the nail problems?

If you treat your nails from both the inside (diet) and outside (treatments), then they should get healthy more quickly and less expensively. Some food recommendations are: dark leafy greens, omega-3 sources (ex. fish, flaxseed), monounsaturated fats (avocado, nuts), eggs.

Good clarification. I remembered 10% where I worked.

  • Should I just wash all of my whites in a bucket filled with bleach/soap and let air dry above a fan instead of using the machines?

That's a great way to save money and energy during the summer - I hand-wash whites and hang them up in my place all the time. You don't need much bleach if you want to use it to whiten, and the smell will dissipate just as it would from machine-washed clothes as long as you only use what's needed. 10% bleach solution is standard for sanitizing surfaces commercially and it dissipates as it dries. Just keep good airflow so your clothes can dry quickly and moisture doesn't collect in your room.

As far as the chemicals go - it's no worse than using machines then wearing the clothes against your skin afterwards. Also, any harmful fumes would still be getting sent out from the dryer (heated and force-blown rather than gently dissipating), so there isn't any more harm done hang-drying.

If you are concerned, you can always switch to a less perfumed and more gentle cleaning agent, like unscented soap or even soap nuts (Google "natural laundry soaps" for more info). You can also add some baking soda while cutting back on how much soap you use to bring some extra cleaning power that is less harsh (you won't need to use nearly as much soap when hand-washing because less water is being slopped around to dilute it).

To help condition the clothes after soaping and rinsing, you can do a dilute white vinegar rinse - the slight acidity actually helps dyes stay in fabric and it helps neutralize the basic soap/bleach afterwards. As with bleach, there will be a faint smell immediately afterwards, but the smell will quickly dissipate.

    Happy Laundering!

  • How do you know if you have good hygiene "down there"?
    Avatar_default

There's a difference between good hygiene (health, cleanliness) and good aesthetics (ie: taste). The former is something you'll achieve by cleaning regularly and promoting a healthy vaginal environment (soap, douching, etc. can irritate the flora inside and lead to infections). The latter can be influenced somewhat by diet and habits, but you'll have your own taste and smell native to you which guys will prefer based on their own tastes. This means that one guy may not like how you taste, but another will love it, so don't get discouraged if one is finicky and never accept that there is one "right" way for someone to taste.

If you want to improve your taste overall, reduce consumption of foods like dairy products, meats, heavy spices; also avoid alcohol and tobacco - those are top funk-makers. Increase fruit consumption: pineapples are famous for improving how you taste (guys and gals), but other fruits are great too, like apples, bananas, peaches, strawberries, etc. Remember to hydrate too - that makes the fluids down there flow more freely for licking and lubricating fun.

Good luck, and may the pheremones be with you!
