My uncle had a similar situation occur at his place in Ballard.

My uncle's insurance company said they had to go after the neighbor's insurance company. The neighbor's insurance company said it would not pay anything unless my uncle sued.

So, the neighbor asked my uncle to sue him. That was the only way to get it covered. There was no love lost at all, they remained totally friendly, it was just necessary to have a lawsuit to get neighbor's insurance to pay out.

So yeah, my uncle sued his neighbor, court ruled neighbor owed my Uncle X for damage repair, neighbor's insurance company paid X. Damage got fixed.

Key to this whole situation was open communication. I am by no means saying you should slap a lawsuit on your neighbor, but be aware that it may be necessary to get an insurance company to pay out.

I think you nailed it! I had not considered the capacity aspect. I just looked it up, and all the NBA arenas are generally in the 17,000-20,000 seat range. Clearly, 10,000 wouldn't cut it. Thanks!

Word, thanks for posting the additional info Malcolmxy. Also, I should note that emissions are only required in King, Pierce, Snohomish, Clark and Spokane counties. I often find that people are unaware that it is essentially an "urban areas only" requirement.

Boeing Surplus was a rad Seattle institution. It was a sad day in the Emerald City when they shut that down.

Regarding sotira tubaya's actual question, I doubt such a Starbucks Surplus exists in the Seattle area. Boeing's made sense because their design and manufacturing operations were all clustered in and around Seattle/Renton/Everett so it made sense to sell old computers and drill presses here.

Starbucks, on the other hand, has it's roasting operations distributed throughout the globe in several regional roasting plants, and the actual machinery used to make beverages scattered across the globe in it's bazillion retail outlets. It made sense for Boeing to put old drill presses on a truck from Everett to Seattle to sell as surplus. It makes little sense for Starbucks to ship old espresso machines back to Seattle from retail outlets scattered from Atlanta to Ypsilanti to a central surplus sales location.

I don't know the answer to this at all, but based purely on speculation I doubt that there is a Starbucks Surplus like the old Boeing outlet just because the worldwide distribution of their operations means it would cost a fortune in shipping to generate a modest recovery in surplus sales

Good to know, thank you. I've already encountered the bar issue. I'll bring my passport if somebody twists my arm and 'forces' me to go out for a beer ;)

For what it's worth, I always thought it was kind of unfair that Seattle has a "Spokane Street" but Spokane doesn't have a "Seattle Street." Ditto for Bellevue Ave on Capitol Hill, and no Seattle Ave in Bellevue. TANGENT I know....

Yeah but the thing is that Puget Sound, depending on how you define it, only touches a maximum of 12 of the state's 39 counties. (that's using the State definition incorporating all waters inward of Tatoosh Island near Cape Flattery, if you use the strictest federal definition you could be only looking at 6/39 counties)

Not to mention the fact that the "Salish Sea" only touches 12 of the 39 counties in the state
