First of all I should have mentioned that you, Megan in my opinion deserve much kudos for helping local bands. My question wasn't targeting you as an individual. It's not that I know about all the bands being written about though I read all of the articles every week. It's that as a local musician, agent and industry worker I feel that that some genres and bands are not being represented in Seattle or Portland for that matter. The bands I'm talking about are playing clubs like The Shanty Tavern, Tony V's in Everett, The (soon to be) 2 Bit Sallon, The Tiger Lounge, Winterland and Hi-Fidelity Lounge in Bremerton, Hells Kitchen, The Plan B in Bellingham. Sure a lot of the bands that play these venues suck but there are gems that dont have a big enough draw to secure even a weeknight at Nuemos, The Croc or Chop Suey. It just seems that the whole music scene is centered around Capitol Hill, Belltown and Downtown. Why not check out the great mini scenes in Bremerton, Everett and Bellingham and write about those too? Just sayin...

Why is it that The Stranger only gives write ups or reviews to local bands that already have a big draw or are signed to small or major/indie labels?
