  Any good recipe ideas for a vegan Thanksgiving?

  1 0 I've been doing a huge vegan thanksgiving for years. Some things I do: -Garlic mashed potatos: very easily vegan. As mentioned Earth Balance; that's a great stand-in for butter. Or just use olive oil. -Rosemary oven potatos: roast fingerling potatos in the oven with garlic, rosemary, and olive oil -Mashed sweet potatos -Cran sauce from scratch (duh!) -Mushrom gravy (Veganomicon has a KILLER recipie for this) -Also, I like to do a sweet curried carrots thing with raising and walnuts -And finally, if you don't want to bother with making anything Whole Foods just came out with a cranberry/fig field roast thing that is so so so good.   Heating strategies for Tofurky's giblet gravy?

  0 0 I don't have it handy, but the mushroom gravy recipe from the amazing vegan cookbook Veganomicon is AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME and not that much trouble to make. My wife likes it enough to eat it right from a bowl with a spoon. Try a search for the recipe, or go to a bookstore and sneak the basics onto your phone or something.   Good beers and wines to drink during the winter months?

  1 0 During the late fall and winter I like stouts and porters mostly. Black Boss porter is inexpensive, nice on a chilly evening, and packs a punch. Also if you appreciate sweet and malty beers, Doppelbocks like Paulaner Salvator or Spaten Optimator are nice winter beers.   vegan friendly non vegan resturant in seattle

  0 0 I'll second the Elysian; their food is pretty decent, there's good beer, and they always have a few (if not many) vegan options. Also, I've gone to Plum (which is entirely) vegan with many omnivorous folks and they liked the food just fine.   What is your favorite whisky?

  2 0 If Scotch is admissable, it would be Laphroaig. (10 year or quarter cask are both fine with me) It's not for everyone though- it's intensely smokey/peatey.
