Looking for a couple of good & CHEAP lodgings on the Olympic Peninsula, particularly on the West Side, anywhere between Neah Bay and Ocean City.

Thanks for the prompt response. I was under the impression the Flyer WOULD be up-gradable to ICS, but that seems to have been purely speculative, and not necessarily anything officially stated, SFAICT.

I'm currently primarily in the MS OS environment, but seriously considering switching my smartphone to Android when my upgrade window opens in a couple of months, so that would be the logical choice for a tablet as well. As for the other considerations, I generally prefer to have as much storage capacity on-board as possible, although I realize Google/Android obviates the need for that (but I'm also not completely comfortable with the notion of having all my documents "on the cloud" without a local backup, and I don't know how compatible these devices will be with my current Seagate external drive), and so 32Gb HD, plus an SD slot would be the minimum. I imagine whatever smartphone I end up purchasing is going to be 4G, and so that would be a consideration as well.

So, I'm thinking about buying a Tablet...

  • Can anyone recommend a better quality costume shop?

Display & Costume Supply up by Northgate is probably going to be your best bet, unless you're looking for something vintage, in which case the two suggestions already posted might work better.

Sorry dude, but your math vis-a-vis STS is a little off-the-mark - by about a factor of ten. Earth orbital velocity is between 17,000 & 18,000 mph. The OMS engines on the shuttle aren't powerful enough, nor does it have the fuel capacity to achieve Trans Lunar Injection velocity, which is about 25,000 mph.

We've got clear south-facing line-of-sight, and in fact there are several dishes on surrounding buildings, so that's the least of my concerns (I just wish I could see which logo was on them - that would be a BIG help!)

Is it possible the time-zone glitch your parents experience is due to which satellite signal is being downloaded? I believe both Direct & Dish use 2 or 3 different "birds" at slightly different locations, which broadcast to different parts of the country. It may be that, because of the geographic limitations where your parents live, they aren't able to get a good signal lock on the sat normally covering the West Coast, and so have had their dish aligned to collect signal from a sat covering the East Coast? That might explain their reception issues.

And therein lies part of my dilemma. I have a strong aversion to going with Comcast, primarily because of their strident anti-union policies, not to mention their consistently poor customer service ratings. On the other hand, satellite systems seem more prone to mechanical breakdowns, requiring frequent dish realignments, etc., etc. Plus, their C/S ratings aren't exactly stellar (although they seem far better than Comcast's by comparison.) And we ARE looking at multi-set service, so that seems to be a consideration that falls on the "pro" side so far as satellite systems are concerned as well.

    So many things to consider...

Which is better: Comcast, Direct TV or Dish Network?

What? You-all forgot Ann & Nancy Wilson (Heart).

I suppose it's potentially subject, but none of the people I've ever done taxes for - and that includes a lot of 1099 income - has a business license, so I don't know how that would work. That's one the Tax Lady would be much more qualified to answer than I would.
