  • I had a dream I was in a house and my black cat was bit by a huge snake.
    Questionland_small

    Hi Dolly,
When we dream of something or someone invading our home, it can have to do with feeling like our boundaries have been crossed. If I were working with you personally on this dream, I would ask you what your associations are with snakes and cats. Since I cannot ask you direct questions (though feel free to respond to this post), I can take an archetypal approach. Looking at it in a universal way, snakes COULD represent male sexuality, and a cat COULD represent feminine sexuality. This would make me curious if there were something going on w/your boyfriend (or someone else) where you might be feeling a bit ‘invaded’ (i.e. the home invasion by the ‘snake’) and/or hurt or criticized by him or someone else (the snake biting the cat). The word 'snake' can have a double meaning too, like when we call someone a snake it implies they are not trustworthy.
You might also want to think back if there is something someone has done possibly 3 times to 'hurt'or 'attack' you (emotionally, not necesarily physically) since the snake bit the cat 3 times.

In the next dream, the presence of so many bugs could indicate that something (perhaps this same situation) is ‘bugging’ you. Dreams love puns and plays on words, so again w/out consulting with you, this would be a generalization that may or may not apply. In the dream you ‘tip toe out, with fear'. So ask yourself, do you feel like you have to ‘tip toe’ around something (or someone) in a fearful way? And once you make it through that, the lobster claws at you. This seems to be an echo of the snake biting the cat, and also of escaping the bugs.

The good news is that in all of these situation you (and the cat?) seem to come out ok. The fact that you woke up scared indicates that these dreams are trying to get your attention about some matter in your life. Think if there is someone (or something) that is causing you to feel scared. like I said without talking to you directly I am only tossing around ideas…you will know what resonates with you. Feel free to reply here if you’d like, or if you prefer you can email me privately at: mimi@thedreamdetective.com

One last thing: Since this is a recurring dream and these 2 happened a week apart, see if you can notice a connection between what was going on the day(s) before these dreams, and if you can connect the dots. For example, if one (or both) of the dreams happened on a Wednesday night, what did you do on that Wednesday?

I hope this helps and thanks for sharing your dream,
    Mimi

  • i've been having this very strange dream-please help me find out what it means!
    Questionland_small

    Hi Keke,
Much of the time dreams are not literal. So let's look at the main theme of the dream: there is someone (or something) that you really want, but you don't feel like it's ok to express that. Ask yourself if this fits with any area of your life. You will know if this is true for an actual relationship with a boy, or maybe it relates to some other area of life. For example if you have creative interests, a career choice, or personal style sense that you feel is true for you on the inside, but that's not ok to express on the outside. It may be something I didn't mention, those are just examples.
Also, dreams let us try things out before they really happen. Perhaps you are at an age where kissing boys is on your mind, and this dream is reflective of that. I wouldn't worry too much about trying to find the actual boy in your dream. If he is meant to come into your life he will; otherwise he is more likely a symbol for something that you really want in your life.

  • what does it mean when you losse your teeth in a dream?
    Questionland_small

    Hi Joshua,
This dream is a classic, and can have several layers of meaning. One is a feeling of loss of power. Sometimes we do or say things that go against our true nature, and the self-compromise can result this dream. Teeth falling out is a metaphor for feeling like we have lost a part of our self - literally in the dream, figuratively in waking life.
Another angle is that this dream accompanies a 'fear of looking bad' - as in not literally (although that can come into play), but rather something like "I shouldn't have said (or done) that, I'm afraid it will make me look bad"
Or it could be that someone said something they wish they hadn't, as in "something came out of my mouth that shouldn't have" (teeth=words).
Of course, if a person is actually having some kind of dental issues, this can be a contributing factor as well, but if you are not experiencing dental problems the other interpretations will likely apply.
Let me know if any of this resonates with you, and thank you for writing,
    ~Mimi

what does it mean when you losse your teeth in a dream?

  • I've been having dreams about death...
    Questionland_small

    Hi Hellooo,
I am curious how old you are, as it is very common for teens to dream of their own death and/or the death of a parent, because their roles are changing. The end of childhood can feel like a death in a sense, because we are no longer a little child but now an adult. So it feels like the 'child part' of us has died, and the 'part of the parent' who responds to a little child is also no longer. This can trigger dreams depicting the end of these roles as a type of death, as the child changes into an adult.
Usually once a person has an understanding of this, the disturbing dreams will stop.

If that does not apply to you, it would be helpful for me to know how you are dying in the dreams. For example, if you are taking your own life, it might be indicative of some self-destructive behaviors. If something or someone else is killing you, it may feel like a 'part' of you is dying due to some external circumstances in your life, or even a detrimental person around you. In that case you would want to address who or what is putting you in harm's way, and seek help to change this.
Death in dreams is also symbolic of change, or then end of something, or can even be triggered by a physical separation from someone.
I am collecting dream case studies for a book and would be happy to talk further with you if this did not answer your question. I would really like to help you put your fears to rest. Please feel free to contact via my website: www.TheDreamDetective.com and I would love to help you further.
    Thank you for writing,
    Mimi

  • what does it mean when u dream of loved ones that have passed away
    Questionland_small

    Hi Drea,

Sometimes dreams of loved ones that have passed away are just memories, and other times they are much more. The latter are known as After Death Contact dreams. I actually interviewed someone on this topic when I was hosting a little radio show on Blog Talk Radio. You can hear the interview online here if you are interested in learning more: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/thedreamdetective/2009/03/16/after-death-visitation-dreams

what does it mean when u dream of loved ones that have passed away

  • could u interpret my dream please ?
    Questionland_small

    Hi Belinda,
Dreams of ex-mates are very common, but this one seems to have some different qualities to it. The fact that he has light shining behind him, the grass and the tree, and the pure and peaceful quality, make me think of a spiritual dream. I would be curious if it felt that way to you? Also, I would be curious to know if you are still in contact with him. You don’t have to answer here if you don’t want, but only by talking with you more would I be able to help you understand why this dream happened for you. Regardless, it is a beautiful dream and sound wonderful. If you want to ask more in private you can contact me through my website, www.TheDreamDetective.com or feel free to post here as well.
    Sweet Dreams!
    ~Mimi
