There's been so much good stuff published in the last few years. I don't know what happened, but I feel like the last three years have just brought a bumpercrop of great new titles.
Among my favorite new books of the last few years were "2666" by Roberto Bolano; "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao" by Junot Díaz; "Lowboy" by John Wray; both the Peter Carey books that came out recently - "His Illegal Self" & "Parrot and Olivier;" The Jules Feiffer Autobiography "Backing into Forward"; The new translation by Breon Mitchell of Gunter Grass’s “The Tin Drum”; "Down and Out on Murder Mile" by Tony O’Neill; "Spook Country by William Gibson;" The Patti Smith memoir "Just Kids."
I haven't read "Wolf Hall" or "Let the Great World Spin," but I hope to this summer.
