  Why do all grain brewers hate extract brewers?

  1 0 I think extract is looked down upon becuase all-grain brewers consider it less of a craft. It's kind of like working on your own car or taking it in to the shop and having a mechanic do the work for you. With all-grain you know what's under the hood of your beer but with extracts like Coopers there is no telling which malts they used to get a dark malt profile (as far as I know). Is there chocolate malt in there? Did they use crystal 500L malt? you'll never know. All-grain brewers have to understand a lot more ingrediants and how they fit together to get a drinkable beer. So I think its easy for all-grainers to look at extract brewers like your taking a short cut. I'm not saying all grain is better than extract; you can certainly get make bad beer with both techniques and vise versa, good beer with both techniques. And I agree, beer making doesn't have to be hard, homebrewing should be fun and fulfilling to the brewer.
